The Garden of Eden Was a Nutritional Experiment to Help With Intelligence

Help in the form of nutrition for restructured creation was needed. Up until the time of the sixth day, when the restructuring was done through the chakras, the animal-men were not advanced enough for any nutrition to help with intelligence, but by the time Atlantis was destroyed, the spacemen needed to know if superior nutrition would help create a more thinking, reasoning human; thus experiments with nutrition had been started.

On the sixth day of creation the space ships came from outside our solar system. This was when many, including the first "Lord" or Captain, came from the constellation Norma. Some also came from Clarion and some from Edentia which is where the man Eden came from, the planet Edentia, to start the experimental garden. These were more advanced solar systems than where the help had previously come from, which had been from the planets in our own solar system.

As man evolved out of the ape stage and started walking upright, the ships would bring certain foods and chemicals to use on selected specimens, leaving them in their natural environment, but giving them this special help. The plant life native to earth was cross-bred with specimens brought from other planets. This is where most edible fruits and vegetables came from. Very few were native to the earth. The root vegetables were native, but most of the vines growing on earth were barren until they were cross-bred. There were some native fruit trees that developed, but some of them caused death when eaten. Many of them were inedible because the fruits on them were small and hard. They had no nourishment until crossed with stock from other planets.

The spacemen set up a controlled environment growing station so these supplements did not have to be transported from other stars (the Biblical Garden of Eden.) This growing station was an experiment to give more nourishment for the evolving animals. The volunteer in charge of these experiments was truly a genius in this field. His name was Eden. His stay on earth was of three hundred years, until he felt he had stabilized the crops and done the most that he could to further the nourishment of the race. He did eventually return to his home star in the Pleiades.

It was determined that the progress of the evolving animals was much more rapid when eating special foods. The Mineral Kingdom also had help from the space brothers, but not as much. It was pretty much as it is now, although the spacemen's help came in handy to purify the water used to water the plants and vegetables to increase the amounts of minerals absorbed through the stems. Some minerals not found native to earth at that time were brought in from outer space. Once introduced into the ecological system they stayed in the system and as man evolved, he grew dependent on these minerals. Potassium is one that was introduced from Venus.

As given, the garden was an experimental growing station for producing more highly nutritious fruits and vegetables than the earth was able to produce at that time period. By this time the conscience in man had started developing. The garden was begun at the same time as the restructuring because it was realized that this nutrition was going to be responsible for a large part of the refinement of the forms on this planet earth. The garden was a huge mass of land that managed over a period of about three hundred years to really increase the brain capacity of these humans.

The garden was located in the country known as Israel. It was a large plat of ground near the Sinai Desert that was irrigated with a tremendous irrigation system, bringing water from the distant Nile River. There is still evidence of this system to be found if excavation were made at strategic points. On the eastern bank of the Nile River in Egypt, near the town of Bethane, there is a masonry standard that bore the weight of the pipes carrying the water as it was siphoned out of the river. The pipes were of a near leather-like material made from the skins of sheep. The "pipe-line" followed the river until the point where it meets the Jordan, then crossed at this point into present day Israel. (The Biblical Land of Canon, the Promised Land, was the Garden of Eden. They were one and the same thing.)

The irrigation system used was quite elaborate for its day. It had these "pipes" of sheep skin crisscrossing the growing station with punctures in them and the ability to close the water off at the top of the hill. There are several of these "pipe-bags" preserved in a cave in the hillside near the town of Judea. If evidence is wanted or needed, a dig could be done there.

Eden stabilized the crops and did the most he could do. After three hundred years of trying and experimenting, he had pretty much come up with the right combination in his seeds; the right hybrids of seeds, etc. The growing of crops as done in the garden was planned to perfection to get the most out of the soil that they were grown in, but this did not carry out into the outer fringes of civilization.

These seeds were given out and the tribes planted them, but they didn't do it scientifically. They planted the same crops over and over again in the same fields and drew all the nutrients from the ground in that one area. Then they would move on to another area and after practically devastating that piece of territory, they'd move on to another. This just kept going on.

The earth men who ate from the garden did indeed receive knowledge but, of course, not from the Biblical single bite of an apple. It was a process covering many generations. Later generations were told of the progress made by those who ate the fruit and produce of all kinds, to induce more people to plant these crops and eat the harvest, so more growth and intelligence could take place. Some of the items brought from other stars could not be grown on earth. Some could be grown but had disastrous effects on humans.

It was found that with the addition of seaweed, the process of thinking was speeded up even more (The Biblical tale of Jonah and the Whale). It was thought that the best way to use the food from the sea was by eating the seaweed itself. The astronauts tried to tell the people that by eating the fish they would get the same results; that the fleshy part of the belly of the fish was a reservoir of selenium which is the chemical that is found in seaweed. The gastro-intestinal mechanism of the fish processed the seaweed automatically and stored the by-product, selenium. If the people would eat the belly of the fish they would gain the good nutrition just as easily and in a more tasty fashion than eating raw seaweed. Can you imagine trying to get unevolved man to understand this concept?

Up until that time the food on earth did not have a lot of the vitamins and minerals that were needed to increase the thinking capacity of the animal brain. As given, this was the purpose of the garden. Many, many experiments were brought in as far as food goes which, by the way, will be what will happen when we go into the fourth dimension. There will be much experimentation with food products, food growing and with food interchanging of components, etc. in a new experimental garden, "Nature's Mineral Garden."

Behold a Pale Horse 15/18

Behold a Pale Horse is a 1991 book by William Milton Cooper. Written after Cooper had been a member of the US Naval Intelligence Briefing Team of the Commander in Chief of the United States Pacific Fleet, the book details many of Cooper's claims about the alleged influence of UFOs on US government agencies, the New World Order, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the alleged Apollo hoaxes and other topics. Another claim made in the book pertains to his own death. William Cooper, seemingly paranoid, claimed that he would be shot to death on his own property. True to his "fate," he was gunned down in precisely this manner years after publishing the book and settling down in Arizona. The title of the book alludes to a passage in the Bible, Revelation 6:8: "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him." Behold a Pale Horse is definitely not a book to curl up on the couch with on a Sunday afternoon. The topics William Cooper discusses will very likely keep you reading late into the night. There are two types of people in the world: those who want to know who exactly is controlling whom, and those who are more comfortable taking things at face value. What really disturbed me was the theory of the true intent of the government. Cooper's account of what the government is capable of in times of heightened alert is extremely relevant now. It is important to keep in mind that this book was published before the ...

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest Review

Look. you're either going to buy this book or not. My review isn't going to make much of a difference, is it? If I have the power to sway you that much when hundreds of others have already written their review, and the book has been featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, I'll be shocked.

Suffice it to say that everyone who has read my copy of 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest' has loved it! That number is currently three, and it promises to keep growing.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest Overview

The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest Specifications

Amazon Best Books of the Month, May 2010 As the finale to Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is not content to merely match the adrenaline-charged pace that made international bestsellers out of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. Instead, it roars with an explosive storyline that blows the doors off the series and announces that the very best has been saved for last. A familiar evil lies in wait for Lisbeth Salander, but this time, she must do more than confront the miscreants of her past; she must destroy them. Much to her chagrin, survival requires her to place a great deal of faith in journalist Mikael Blomkvist and trust his judgment when the stakes are highest. To reveal more of the plot would be criminal, as Larsson's mastery of the unexpected is why millions have fallen hard for his work. But rest assured that the odds are again stacked, the challenges personal, and the action fraught with neck-snapping revelations in this snarling conclusion to a thrilling triad. This closing chapter to The Girl's pursuit of justice is guaranteed to leave readers both satisfied and saddened once the final page has been turned. --Dave Callanan

PC - Wolfenstein 3D - Level 59/E6L9 (General Fettgesicht)

What it is: A gameplay video of Wolfenstein 3D Level 59 (Episode 6, Level 9), and the last boss of thegame. Done in a single run, from a pistol start, and on Death Incarnate difficulty. Game was invoked with -hard -tedlevel 58 parameters for this. How was it done: Emulated and recorded with DOSBox 0.70, the resulting AVI file with the ZMBV codec was decompressed using Virtual Dub 1.7.1 and later recompressed again with Windows Movie Maker in WMV format with a 512 KBits Bitrate. Additional Info: I tried to not uncover the first secret passage as an excuse for not taking the Chaingun, but the first wave of enemies is overwhelming for just a Pistol with no place to run for cover as in E4L9.

River, Cross My Heart: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club)

River, Cross My Heart: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club) Review

The first thing to know about this book is that it basically has no plot -- it's more a series of loosely connected vignettes that, when taken as whole, combine to give the reader an impression of African-American life in the 1920s in a particular neighborhood in Washington, D.C. So, while the book does open with a beautifully rendered chapter in which the 12-year-old protagonist's sister drowns in the Potomac river, that tragedy doesn't lead to the kind of linear story with clear resolution many readers might expect.

In that respect, the book is a bit of a failure -- but to my mind, it more than makes up for it by presenting a compelling roster of leading and supporting characters who bring alive the social history of pre-Depression black Washington. To be sure, the little girl's death hovers over the entire book, and the author does a great job of showing how the community rallies to support the family, but it's really about the community, not the tragedy itself. We get little peeks into everyday life, rituals, habits, social mores, and so forth. And of course, racism and it's economic and social consequences are woven throughout the book in a seamless manner.

Ultimately, it's a very personal book -- the author lost her child to an accident, and it's hard not to read the book as part of her grieving process. Also, her parents grew up in Georgetown during the era the book describes, and the book began as a story based on their reminisces, so in that sense it honors their history. It's definitely a book worth checking out if you have a connection to Washington, D.C. or just want a good fictional glimpse of African-American social history -- just don't expect much of a story.

River, Cross My Heart: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club) Overview

A remarkable new writer makes her debut--with a novel of tragedy and triumph in the life of an African American family in Georgetown, circa 1925.

Eight-year-old Clara Bynum is dead, drowned in the Potomac River in the shadow of an apparently haunted rock outcropping known locally as the Three Sisters.

In scenes alive with emotional truth, River, Cross My Heart weighs the effect of Claras absence on the people she has left behind: her parents, Alice and Willie Bynum, torn between the old world of their rural North Carolina home and the new world of the city, to which they have moved in search of a better life for themselves and their children; the friends and relatives of the Bynum family in the Georgetown neighborhood they now call home; and, most especially, Claras sister, twelve-year-old Johnnie Mae, who must come to terms with the powerful and confused emotions sparked by her sisters death as she struggles to decide and discover the kind of woman she will become.

This highly accomplished first novel resonates with ideas, impassioned lyricism, and poignant historical detail as it captures an essential part of the African-American experience in our century.

River, Cross My Heart: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club) Specifications

Oprah Book Club® Selection, October 1999: Breena Clarke's first novel takes place in Georgetown in 1925, where a large and close-knit African American community took shape beneath the shadow of segregation. At the center of the story is baby Clara, who is swallowed by the Potomac as her sister, Johnnie Mae, cools off in the brackish water. It's the only place the girls can find relief--they're banned from the new, clean swimming pool the white kids use.

After Clara drowns, the river is never the same, and Johnnie Mae hovers on the edge of womanhood wondering if she'll be able to get past her guilt and emptiness. In an eloquent passage, Clarke writes, "Losing a loved one, a family member, is like losing a tooth. After a while, those teeth remaining shift and lean and spread out to split the distance between themselves and the other teeth still left, trying to close up spaces."

Bits of wisdom like this are the book's charm. Most remarkable are the church scenes, which Clarke renders almost purely in the give-and-take of voices: the booming preacher's sermon ("The people we love, we only borrowing them"), and the congregation's "Praise Jesus, Amen" exclamations. The author based her novel on stories passed down in Georgetown--tales of that area's first black churches, founded when people decided they wanted their own place of worship, and implicitly their own God. In church the novel takes flight. Elsewhere River, Cross My Heart suffers from clumsy, purple prose, and a plot that moves forward in labored fits and starts. Clarke painstakingly tries to re-create this past world, but sometimes it seems her duty to history is holding her back, bogging her down in period-piece details. In the effortless church scenes, history loses its gravity and is absorbed by grace. --Emily White

How Your Diet Can Affect Your Colon Health, and Your General Health and Wellbeing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

This brief article sets out to explain in simple terms the relationship between diet and colon health. Given that everything we ingest eventually passes through the colon, what we take into our bodies becomes a very important consideration. One of the ways we can maintain a good healthy colon is by having a diet that is well balanced, and that gives a natural, safe and easy colon cleanse.

There are available in many good health shops and pharmacies, propriety dietary supplements that blend colon-specific nutrients and herbs. These colon cleansers gently and effectively promotes a naturally, healthy working colon. When the large intestine or colon becomes compacted with hardened, impermeable waste materials, these hinder the passage of glucose into the bloodstream. The result is a profound drop in energy and metabolic rate. A good dietary supplement solves this dilemma and gently cleanses the colon with natural roughage and different herbs and minerals.

The colon's job is to separate the nutrients in the food we eat and the water we drink, from the food that we digest, and eliminate the rest, usually toxic matter, which may weight as much as five to twenty pounds. When the colon is overloaded with toxic matter, it is forced to produce more mucus than normal. This combines with a sludge that the toxins create, thus causing colonic congestion. Over time, this builds up and becomes solidified, and the colon is unable to function as it was meant to. Constipation is the inevitable result.

The idea behind a colon cleanse process is to eliminate the toxins which have built up in your digestive system. We understand the concepts of air pollution and water pollution; the body, and specifically the colon, can also become polluted with unwanted and unhelpful toxins. Even the food we eat contains harmful toxins that prevent the body working properly.

For many years, we have been ingesting a variety of chemicals, preservatives, trans fats, and even refined sugar, etc, all of which have resulted in putting our colons into a state where they are mal-functioning. Colon health is so critically important that where it becomes toxic, conditions such as high blood pressure, arthritis, backaches, and, in men, prostate problems can manifest themselves.

The detoxification processes of a colon cleanser treatment are so important to maintaining a healthy balance in your body that many doctors consider it to be a key to personal wellness.

To help the body rid itself of accumulated waste such as mucous and undigested matter that can become built up in the colon, certain simple steps can be taken. These steps, which might be as simple as a change in diet, taking more exercise, drinking at least two litres of filtered water a day, will start you off in the right direction for a better, healthier life. One of the interesting side-effects of a colon cleanse is weight loss.

Eliminating this waste prevents toxins from being absorbed by your body and gives you a sense of increased energy. Some of the other potential benefits of a colon cleansing may include a decrease in gas or bloating, more radiant skin and hair, and an overall trimmer appearance.

Look for a colon cleanse program that explains any side effects that may be felt.

Department of Health Inspections: May I Help Me? ...uh ...You?

Department of Health Inspections: May I Help Me? ...uh ...You? Review

This novel is one of the most unique and easy to read novels I have ever read. It kept my attention from start to finish. When it came to crime, murder and sex, it held NOTHING back. It was very, very descriptive to say the least!!! I highly recommend this novel because it is unique, easy to read, and holds NOTHING back!!!!!!!!

Department of Health Inspections: May I Help Me? ...uh ...You? Overview

This novel is about a crooked health department and is certainly a one of a kind novel. I don't believe there has ever been a novel about a crooked health department before the creation of this novel. Some of it is reality based . . . A retired Naval Intelligence Officer (Ty Ambrose) takes a job as a health inspector at the local health department. He finds corruption running from within the political arena all the way down to the county health inspector. Corruption and pay-offs from food service inspections to septic tank approvals run rampant!!!Being an ex-Naval Intelligence Officer, Ty decides to stay with the job and learn as much about the corruption as possible. Then, with evidence in hand, he planned to notify the proper authorities about the corruption. Eventually, Ty learns the corruption extends all the way out to the Military Base and gets Naval Intelligence in on the game. The plot thickens as he finds out about the Director and a few of the employees are dealing in drugs with a local mobster. There are some morbid murders and kinky sex scenes in the novel. The morbid perversion is just part of the total picture of the corrupt and demented Department of Health Inspections . . . . . . .

Coping With Sorrow on the Loss of Your Pet (Second Edition) - Book Review

Author of seven books, Moira Allen is also an accomplished article writer and columnist. During her long career, she has held a variety of writing-related positions, including a past editor of Dog Fancy Magazine.

Her book, Coping With Sorrow On The Loss Of Your Pet, has been in production for 20 years and has been embraced by humane societies, veterinary schools and pet cemeteries. This support comes with good reason...

Coping With Sorrow On The Loss Of Your Pet is an exceptionally well planned and thoroughly researched, 182-page non-fiction self-help book. Moira displays excellent organizations skills and clearly shows a compassion and dedication to the concept of preparedness for the death of a loved one.

This 13-chapter book opens with some lovely poems that, frankly, meant so much more to me after I finished the book and returned to read them once more. The author covers every aspect of losing a pet and closes with a lovely write-up about her life as a writer.

While I have not yet experienced the death of a pet, I have had the experience of finding homes for three beloved cats in the past due to circumstances beyond my control, and I have lost two cats in a city I once lived in. Her chapter dealing with missing pets was absolutely dead on in regards to the emotional process, which Moira so accurately describes as a cross between a death and a divorce.

My husband and I have the pleasure of sharing our home with three friends. Our eldest is a female cat, who is showing her age; she has been with us for 13-years. Through this book, I learned what to expect during the aging and letting go stages - and I was also awakened to our lack of preparedness for our four-legged family members in the event of our death or prolonged injury/illness. This new knowledge arrived with perfect timing as we are currently updating our little Will.

Another aspect that we had not yet considered was what we planned to do for our four-legged friends when they pass on to the next plane. This was brought to the discussion table at once.

Moira also discusses aspects of dealing with the death on an emotional level. For instance, each member of the family, even those of the four-legged variety, will grieve differently according to the relationship they had with the deceased. The ways we all will be able to show our emotions will vary just as much and I think it is helpful for pet-owners to be aware of these differences in order to avoid misunderstandings. The author also shows us some social barriers, such as people who cannot comprehend the grief over the loss of an animal, and she shows us how to deal with this hurtful event.

This book was so helpful! The new discussions that were brought into our home over these important issues, made me so very grateful for having had the opportunity to read this book.

Coping With Sorrow On The Loss Of Your Pet is currently available by clicking on the Amazon link "new & used" (ISBN: 0-931866-97-9) or by visiting the authors site: http://www.pet-loss.net This site is very informative and offers articles, tips, links and many other resources for pet owners. The Beauty and Meaning of Polynesian Tattoos

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Polynesian tattoos are very impressive works of art for the body. Though any tattoo often has great significance to the person wearing it, a Polynesian tattoo is a bit different.

The original process involved making small cuts with bird bone, turtle shell, or bamboo. The inks were then injected into those areas of the skin. If often took a long time to heal and was considered a sign of courage, among many other things.

Today, most of us go to the tattoo parlor, and there is little doubt that the process is much easier! While the sessions of original Polynesian tattooing took a great deal of time and were very painful, today's tattoos bear little resemblance to the sheer endurance it took to bear a Polynesian tattoo. However, the designs are still enormously popular and requested for numerous reasons.

The meanings behind the Polynesian tattoos still ring true today. They were signs of courage and a rite of passage. They were also said to increase the attractiveness of the person who wore them. They were considered protection, much like a talisman worn on the skin. The tattoos also explained in clear detail that person's place in society and what was expected of them. Thus it makes sense that a tattoo left incomplete was considered a sign of shame.

The original Polynesian tattoos have evolved into other designs as the Polynesian people spread throughout the world. Hawaiian tattoos, for instance, are Polynesian tattoos that have evolved to celebrate the beauty around the Hawaiian Islands. Many of these tattoos are elaborate flowers. There are also tattoos specific to those on Easter Island, as well as New Zealand or Samoa. As the groups on those islands became very close-knit and formed their own ways of life, their ways of tattooing began to change, too.

Finally, one of the most common Polynesian tattoos in the Western world is the Tiki. All tiki art refers to a mythical ancestor and first human, known as Tiki. The art began as statues and carvings, but in recent years it has evolved into body art as well.

No matter your choice in a Polynesian tattoo, be sure to know what the meaning of your tattoo is. If you see a gorgeous tattoo design in a book, take the time to research the origins before you put it on your body! Make sure your Polynesian tattoo is one that reflects what you want it to say - and who you really are.

Tables in Microsoft Word Processor - How to Use Tables in Microsoft Documents

Using tables is relatively easy. Once you have made one table and adjusted it a few times to your liking, you will find it is an easy task.

There are various reasons and ways to put a table in your documents. The first thing to learn is how to drop and drag a table in the document. You can also make your own measurements of how tall or wide you wish your boxes in the table to be.

To make it easy there is an icon at the top of the page in what is called a toolbar. The icon looks like a grid with a bar on it. You left click on it. You will see on the left the styles you can choose from. On the right you will see the number of rows and columns you can use.

The options are basic simple, modern, elegant, ledger. There are several different options to choose from depending on what you  want to use your table for. Do you want a calendar, a personal list, a chore list,

the uses for a table are endless.

Once your done this will drop a table in the document. If your need more or less space in the columns and rows, then you will go to format table and change the height, and or width of whatever you need to change. If you only want to  change one item then highlight the item by putting the pointer in front of the word, or box that you want to change and right click.. From there you will have many options.

You can delete a column, row, or box by using the same method of highlighting the area you want to change and choose the option. you want to put bullets or numbers in the table this can be easily done by clicking right and choosing the option.

If you decide that you want to darken up some of the boxes in the table you highlight it and right click and choose the borders options. You can also use the shading option to add more style to your table.

If you want to add a excel table to your document this will be pretty easy. Minimize your document. Highlight what your spreadsheet, and right click and copy. Minimize the spreadsheet, and then you will open the document again. Put the pointer where you want to drop the table right click and  choose paste special.

Now this is most options you can use with the table. If you need to do something different you can always experiment with different styles, and sizes until you get what you need.

Good Luck with your Word Processing.

Atlas Shrugged

Atlas Shrugged Review

This book is one of the most influential books in my life. I read it when I was 16 years old, at a time when I started trying to define my personal philosophy and ethics. I was reading several political philosophy books at the time; Rand's was morally, ethically, and politically incredibly consistent. She is truly a revolutionary genius and for too long has been placed on the sidelines of the so-called intelligentsia. But there are a host of incredibly accomplished thinkers who believe otherwise. This book successfully popularized a complex political and philosophical argument, in a romantic, passionate way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone interested in THINKING.

Atlas Shrugged Feature

  • ISBN13: 9780452011878
  • Condition: NEW
  • Notes: Brand New from Publisher. No Remainder Mark.

Atlas Shrugged Overview

At last, Ayn Rand's masterpiece is available to her millions of loyal readers in trade paperback.

With this acclaimed work and its immortal query, "Who is John Galt?", Ayn Rand found the perfect artistic form to express her vision of existence. Atlas Shrugged made Rand not only one of the most popular novelists of the century, but one of its most influential thinkers.

Atlas Shrugged is the astounding story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world--and did. Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged stretches the boundaries further than any book you have ever read. It is a mystery, not about the murder of a man's body, but about the murder--and rebirth--of man's spirit.

* Atlas Shrugged is the "second most influential book for Americans today" after the Bible, according to a joint survey conducted by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club

Passages

Passages Review

Passages Overview

This powerful novel by the Haitien-Quebecois writer Émile Ollivier tells the tale of a journey from one world to another. Passages is a Homeric epic told in parallel stories. One stream follows the adventures of Amédée Hosange who is leading a group of emigrants in Port-a-l’Écu, a forlorn little village in the Caribbean. They are about to set sail on a frail three-masted boat in the hope of escaping a miserable life. The other stream follows Normand Malavy, a Haïtien exiled in Quebec, who travels to Miami in poor health. The two tales merge when the boat is shipwrecked and the compatriots meet and their destinies mingle. With the action of the novel shifting between Montreal, Haiti and Miami, the author skillfully presents the characters as players in a drama on three levels –– present, past and mythic. Like Odysseus, seeking land, the protagonist Normand is also adrift in the modern world, in search of his past.

Candlemass - Demon's Gate

From the 1986 album "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" Lyrics: Beyond all nightmares I met my fate an ancient passage surrounded by hate scared I was with my hand on my cross I went into the demons gate Across the Styx among the mists of Hades a gate of stones marks the path to soul's damnation and hell's wrath Ancient evil is awaiting there at the doorstep to hell within it's darkness the demons dwell From the dark age the passage hail created by witchcraft and hate where every sinner will meet his fate The place is cursed by the hands of doom unholy powers in reign the devil's paradise of pain Approach ! The Eibon opens for you the choirs of damnation, call you on through The twilight possesses, the heart of your soul the starlight is fading to black, into the Demons gate

How to Approach Girls - So You Want to Know How to Approach the Hottest Girl in the Club?

There you are in the club and in this particular night you're greedy. You just don't want to settle for the 8's and the 9's: You want the hottest girl in the club.

Let me tell you, in order to pick up the best looking girls in the market you have to get your game tight. You will find that in 90% of the time it's a little bit harder to engage a perfect 10. And I say 90% of the time because sometimes you got lucky and it turns out that the perfect 10 is a super nice and polite girl.

But hey, don't worry, if the perfect 10 plays hard to catch here's what you've to do:

1 - Don't approach with a pickup line. Those kinds of girls are approached very often, don't be like the 567 guys that approached before and got kicked for using a cheesy line.

2 - You have to be seen as more valuable than the other guys. And I don't mean that you have to be a show off or tell her that you're Bono's lost son. You became more valuable by using correct body language and talking to her as she was exactly like the 100 other girls in the club.

3 - Improve your conversation skills. A perfect ten wants to be entertain, hell, any girl wants that! Work hard in that department and you'll see results, I promise.

Do you imagine approaching and picking up a perfect 10 in a club full of avid guys? Hey, you can tell that story to your grandsons. The first time I did it I felt like screaming as Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic "I'm the king of the world".

Know All About the Benefits of the Air Ratchet Wrenches

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The wrench is a hand tool that is made for the tightening or for the loosening of bolts, nuts or anything that needs to be turned. In England, the wrench is also called a spanner and it generally works as a lever. Usually the wrench is pulled at a right angle to the axis of the lever action, bolt or nut. There are some wrenches that even have mouths fitted to them so that they can be tightened around the objects that need to be turned. The notches that are at the mouth are meant for gripping and when the wrench is pulled at the right angle to the axes of the lever, the nut or the bolt the objects that need to be tightened fit well into place.

The wrench has evolved with the passage of time and when you are in the automotive, engineering, agricultural or industrial or love fixing things on your own, the need for the air ratchet wrench becomes indispensable. They are ideal for the purpose of inserting and removing nuts and bolts. Wrenches speed up productivity and they also save a lot of time that is usually taken to perform these tasks.

The main advantages of the air ratchet wrenches are that it smaller and at the same time more robust and durable. They are small power tools that can be sued in small confined areas like car engine bays, commercial vehicles, motor cycles and outboards and they also have power triggered controls and require less space than the conventional hand held ratchet wrench.

The air ratchet wrench is available in many types and sizes. The popular drive sizes are 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 inches. They have different lengths and torques and they have the added feature of being reversible that is important when you are inserting and removing the nut or the bolt giving more versatility. There are some air ratchet wrenches that are available with contoured handles that are designed to insulate the user from vibration and chill.

It also gives the user the added advantage of a textured grip for added control and rear exhaust with a baffle that helps to reduce the noise and the oil spray. This is an ultra compact model that can easily fit into the palm of the hand and is perfectly fitted for operating around the tightly packed engine components. There are also ratchet air wrenches that also come equipped with flexible heads that allow angle adjustment in all directions for giving the user more flexibility while working.

When you are using your air ratchet wrench you should check into the cubic feet requirements of your wrench so that you can lower than the cubic feet per minute requirements of your compressor. The cubic feet per minute also mean CFM and when you buy an air ratchet wrench check into the CFM specifications. The CFM ratings mean a compressor that can provide more air thus making your CFM units easier to use for all your work tasks.

Violet Dawn (Kanner Lake Series #1)

Violet Dawn (Kanner Lake Series #1) Review

Paige Williams thinks she has finally escaped her past. She thinks she has found the perfect home in lovely Kanner Lake, Idaho. She thinks that surely here, in this quiet little tourist town, she will find friends and family to make her finally, for once in her life, feel like she belongs. Her life is on track, and she feels a promise that soon, very soon, she'll find someone to be that sister she always longed for.

But then she finds a body in her hot tub. Worse still--the body of the local celebrity, a retired actress that was seen arguing with her that afternoon. Paige knows as she looks into the dead face of Edna San that life has caught up to her again, and the panic sets in. She doesn't know what to do, only that she can't trust anyone, especially the cops, not if she wants to keep her own life.

Over the course of the next 24 hours, quiet Kanner Lake is tossed into an uproar. A missing celebrity brings the press descending, making young journalist-hopeful Leslie Brymes anticipate her big break. Chief of Police Vince Edwards is glad for the distraction, since the next day is the first anniversary of his son's death in Iraq, and staying at home with the wife he's grown apart from will only depress him more. Café owner Bailey Truitt might be the only one in town to actually be upset by Edna's disappearance--the actress wasn't well liked, but Bailey had connected with her, and Edna had responded by giving her a monetary gift every month that really helped with the medical expenses incurred by Bailey's husband's seizures. And behind it all lies Black Mamba, a killer waiting to strike and bring down his prey with all the might of his namesake.

Violet Dawn is a fast-paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, as Collins' books always seem to do. Though the bulk of it takes place within a single day, the reader is treated to several different perspectives that give a very complete picture of the goings-on, and it's also peppered with flashback-narratives of a girl named Rachel who will grab your heart and not let go. It's an intense book that isn't afraid to look at the dark side, be they in the depths of a broken heart or the mind of an abused child. The faith message is there through the point of view of Bailey, and though it's presented to the main character by the end, through the majority of the story it's more a promise than anything.

This book will take you through the dark, lonely night of one lost woman and bring you out again in the Violet Dawn of morning. I promise you'll have a hard time putting this one down, and I know personally I can't wait until the next in the Kanner Lake series is out so that I can pick it up. Brandilyn's "seatbelt suspense" is as involving as ever, and her sound advice of "don't forget to breathe" is well deserved.

The Help Desk in the 21st Century

Where do you go if you have a problem with your satellite television or broadband service provider? Whom do you call if your have a problem with your computer's installation system or if your printer just died on you before a major presentation? Who is the one person who can quickly help you stop that whining noise and smoke that your lap top is generating right in the middle of the conference call you are having with your boss? If you are like me, the auto dial function on your telephone will have the number of your friendly global help desk! According to me, the help desk is the best invention of man in the twenty first century. The computer and all the electronic gadgets are over hyped. Technology changes much before it becomes affordable in the first place. And gadgets and gizmos are flooding the marketplace like never before. If there is anything at all that has remained consistent through all the tumult, it has been the ubiquitous help desk.

Its only over the last 10 years that the Help Desk, as we know it today, has become an important component in the corporation. Before that time corporations were not geared up to offer a streamlined customer service. Customers would have to struggle through detailed instruction unaided, or make numerous calls to the "Customer Service" Department.

The concept of the help desk started off as a service offering, provided by makers of new IT products and services to clients, who were still unfamiliar with the new age technology. But as users have gotten more savvy, the products and services too have become even more complex. Which makes the role of the help desk even more important. Take Windows itself. This simple operating system started off as Windows 1.0. It grew over the years to become Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, 97, 2000 and now XP. Obviously, each new version has seen the features increase. And each passing year has seen more users start taking up desktop computing as a real option.

This has only meant more work for the people at the Microsoft help desk. As the versions increased and the features expanded, the conventional help desk too expanded to become much more than a mere service offering. Software products and services almost being on par made the quality of the after sales service a critical component in the competitive marketplace. And the help desk, being at the forefront of this arena, has had to adapt and evolve.

So, the typical help desk of today is staffed not just with people who can familiarize you with products and their features, but also specialist engineers and technicians who can troubleshoot your problems and provide you with the correct solution, often within the duration of a simple telephone call. And since the business demands skilled professionals who come with an innate understanding of technology, better prospects have emerged for IT professionals.

In fact, in keeping with the global outsourcing trend, most help desk jobs have moved to countries like India and China where there is no shortage of skilled manpower, and the quality of the professionals is assured. The beneficial cost structures have also contributed to this trend. For like I mentioned earlier, the products may evolve and newer versions may come up. But unless the help desk remains an integral part of the service offering, there will be no exponential increase of market share.

Glenn Beck tells us stuff that we should quickly tuck into our ammo box

Glenn Beck from June 15, 2010: I should tell you right away, I was being a little sarcastic with the title of this video. Mainstream media was saying that we should put the book in the "ammo box." There is a new kind of thriller books out there. It is what Glenn calls "Faction," rather than Fiction. This is an outstanding statement that I hope anyone that is interested in literature will watch. You might learn something! And by the way, Glenn knows what he's talking about. He has been on the top of best seller lists a few times. And I guess his latest work, "The Overton Window" is on top at Amazon now. It's funny how you can learn the truth these days... Ok, it's not the clearest..it's dark and a bit shakey, but as another UK researcher Malcom Robinson described this...it's something of historical importance which has been captured here. The film was shot at night above Overton, Basingstoke, Hampshire, United Kingdom 28/09/09. From his lounge window, witness Derek Bridges saw a strange lightform take-off from a nearby farm field when he rushed to grab his handicam in the bedroom and began filming the episode as soon as he could from his window. Apart from the little crescent of houses that you can see at the beginning of the film, and some residential roads to the left of where he lives, Overton is very rural and is comprised of a huge farming complex which contains many field animals including bison, cows, horses and sheep. What caught Derek's attention is that usually this area is pitch black dark and these lights were most unsual indeed. At first, he wasn't sure exactly what he was zooming-in on, but realised after a while that this was a glowing, hovering object of some sort with what appeared to be a farm animal being hauled ...

MMA Workouts

If only strongman competitions were more mainstream then bodybuilding then perhaps more mixed martial artists would incorporate better strength and conditioning exercises into their MMA workouts without the need of learning or knowing why.

One of the most common mistakes MMA fighters make when the are new to the concept of adding strength and conditioning to their MMA workouts is that they carry around the mindset of a bodybuilder. They go to the gym thinking they need to do all sorts of exercises for each muscle group and the only way to get a productive workout in is to get a good "pump."

But if you wanted a general idea of what type of strength and conditioning you need to develop with your MMA workouts, then think of the type of exercises strongmen do: picking up heavy and awkward objects, carrying heavy weight for long distances, performing extremely powerful and heavy lifts as many times as possible in a certain time period, to name a few.

These types of exercises are MUCH more functional and carry over very well to MMA fighters when it comes to the type of strength and conditioning they need. The reason being is that in a MMA fight your opponent, unlike a balanced barbell, is a constantly shifting his awkward weight that you have to continuously push and pull from both balanced and unbalanced positions, such as the type of resistance a heavy and awkward object would give you.

Not only do the exercises themselves carry well and should be adapted into your MMA workouts as opposed to your much more standard bodybuilding type workouts, but the tempo, intensity, and amount of reps and sets done in strongmen competitions are much more along the lines of how an MMA fighter should train. Instead of doing 5 sets of 12 concentration curls with a 20 lb dumbbell to increase the "peak" of your biceps, carrying two heavy objects and doing the farmers walk for as far as you can will develop the leg strength endurance and grip endurance needed in a fight.

Strongmen lifts are very practical to add to your MMA workouts as well because they develop the type of strength that is most optimal for MMA fighters: power endurance. Doing 5 different isolation exercises for your chest in a way that stimulates hypertrophy - which essentially means an increase in muscle mass - won't do you much good in the ring or cage unless you're just their to impress the ring girls (though they probably won't be too impressed when you get your ass kicked).

On the other hand, push pressing a heavy weight for as many single repetitions as you can inside a few minute timeframe will develop the power endurance to continuously exert your maximum power in a fight without tiring out or getting sloppy.

As you can see, strongmen exercises and the way they are are much more practical for MMA fighters. Eliminate any knowledge you may have on bodybuilding and building muscle mass if you want to create effective MMA workouts. Instead think exercises and workouts that force you to develop strength endurance and power endurance.

Comparing Nokia 5800 Xpress Music With Apple 3G iPhone

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Touchscreen phones are becoming increasingly popular with the passage of time. As a result, we hear announcements and launching ceremonies of touchscreen mobile phones from time to time. However, mobile companies are competing with each other to offer excellent mobile phones to its customers. Since touchscreen mobile phones have gained wide acceptance among the masses, the mobile manufacturers are paying keen attention to bring out the latest handsets loaded with great features.

In the wake, Nokia unveiled its first touchscreen marvel, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone. As always, the competition remains tough between the various mobile manufactures, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone has been launched by the company in the hope to compete with Apple 3G iPhone.

Camera in Comparison Perspective

Nokia 5800 Xpress Music offers a 3.2 megapixel camera supported by a Carl Zeiss lens to its photography lovers. It is capable of 3x digital zoom and auto focus. It comes with a dual-LED flash as well. What's more, it also gives you access to a second backward facing camera, which is an additional advantage. However, on the other hand, Apple 3G iPhone offers 2 megapixel camera. Moreover, it does not give you an opportunity to record your favourite video and is not having a flash support. So, no video recording also means that a user cannot enjoy video conferencing as well. Apart from that, iPhone also lacks optical zoom feature.

Comparison in terms of Digital Music

As the name itself suggests, Nokia 5800 Xpress is specially designed to challenge the Apple 3G iPhone. As the largest cellphone manufacturer is known for its excellent mobile phones throughout the world, its first touchscreen phone, Nokia 5800 has been specially aimed at bringing the best music to its all the music lovers. What's more, the company has already planned to launch its new music service, 'Comes With Music' in the coming next year.

The Battery Aspect

One of the most disappointed facts about the Apple 3G iPhone is that it comes with non-replaceable battery. It has been kept like this because to prevent it from getting bulky and weighty, as according to the logic given by the company. However, a user is free to replace the battery of Nokia Xpress Music mobile phone. Nokia 5800 also scores high when it comes to battery backup. Nokia Xpress mobile phone's battery backup is much better as compared to iPhone.

Comparison on SMS and MMS front

Nokia 5800 also enables the users to enjoy SMS and MMS service. However, it is not present in iPhone. So, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is even better on this front too. Apart from this, Nokia 5800 also takes the lead when it comes to voice commands and dialing feature.

In terms of Pricing

It's not only features but Nokia 5800 also takes lead when it comes to pricing. It's cheaper as compared to the iPhone. If Nokia 5800 is set to be sold at 279 euros ($390), Apple iPhone 8 GB is available for 350 pounds ($619.19) in the UK.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is having an upper edge on its arch rival, Apple 3G iPhone as of now. However, nothing stays in this world for long. We may soon witness tough competition from other mobile manufacturers.

Finding True North With the Help of a Child

Image : http://www.flickr.com

"Dad, I want you to have this" my son said as he held up a toy compass to place in my hands. "You can keep it on your desk so that you will always know where you are and what direction to head in." It was one of those priceless parenting moments.

For a moment I wondered if he was borrowing my Steven Covey books and reading them under his covers after I put him to bed?! As I searched for the words to respond to this incredible gesture of love, and wonderful 5 year old insight, I thought of how important his words were. Was my life compass calibrated the way it should be? Do I focus enough on what is truly important? Am I really heading in the right direction?

Just moments after he gave me the compass I put it on my desk and knew at that moment that I had to write this article. It was serendipitous that this transpired in time to publish this article in January, the perfect time of year for all of us to calibrate our compass.

For many years I made resolutions for the coming year. I wrote them down and posted them next to my bed so that I would see them twice every day- upon rising and before I went to sleep. This inspired me, and being the driver that I am, "forced" me to make them happen. A few years ago I started to look at this ritual differently. Why in the world would I only do this once a year? Why would I focus on the goals that I wanted to accomplish just once a year? As you well know, for most people resolutions are as fleeting as ice cube on a hot day- before you know it they evaporate with no trace of their existence. If I really wanted to make positive changes I needed to rethink this entire process.

Here is what I decided to do: Focus on it daily! Revelation, eh? Is it not easier to bite off little pieces of the elephant instead of trying to swallow it whole?

I now break down my day into small daily priorities, priorities that are tied to incremental change which leads to my longer term goals. I review each day when it concludes and see how I did. Instead of focusing on "resolutions," I focus on what I did each day in order to keep the rock moving up the hill. As the days, weeks, and months go by now, I have a road map that I can look at to see how my journey is going. A journey that is guided by my internal compass that points out the right direction for me. With a little help (thanks to Adam), I see my compass daily and know that I am on the right track.

A New Years wish- I hope you take the opportunity you have right now to establish the fundamentals in your life that will lead to what you truly want.

My wish for you is that at this time next year you will look back on 2010 and smile when you see how far you have progressed on your journey. Get a compass, establish your "true north" and get busy!

Seize the day!

Erase Unsightly Scars With the Help of Dermabrasion

Many people are plagued with unattractive scars, contributing to embarrassment and low self esteem. This is especially true if the scars are in the facial area, the place most publicly seen while communicating with the outside world.

What types of scars can be helped with the process of Dermabrasion and what types of scars cannot? Initially, Dermabrasion was designed to aid in the removal of scarring that had resulted from severe acne, chicken pox and accidents.

As time has gone on, it is also used for getting rid of unwanted tattoos, wrinkles and age spots. It is usually not effective on scars resulting from burns, nor in the case of birthmarks and moles.

What exactly is Dermabrasion and how is it performed?

It is a surgical technique done by either a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. First, a person's top layer of skin is frozen. Next, a specially designed instrument, which is a highly abrasive motorized brush or tool, is used to scrape or plane the damaged area. Eventually, a new layer of skin grows back which is smooth and scar-free. This procedure is done on an out-patient basis, which means there is no overnight hospital stay.

If you are considering this procedure, make an appointment with a reputable dermatologist or plastic surgeon and they will give you exact details of how they perform the surgery, such as the types of anesthetics that will be used and what your specific results might be.

You will want to bring a list of questions that you'd like answered along with your family health history. The physician's office will have an array of before and after photos for you to view, in order to give a realistic view of what is possible.

As with any medical procedure, there are always small possibilities of risk or complication. A few examples in this case are uneven skin color, scarring, infection and darkening of the skin, which is usually temporary.

The recovery time is generally seven to fourteen days, but often a patient is often advised to stay out of the sun for much longer. It is a good idea to remain out of the sun for three to six months following treatment and even then the skin must be protected. A good sunscreen with a high SPF protection factor is a must.

It's also a good idea to get into the habit of wearing a densely woven sun hat and to stay out of the midday's most penetrating of rays. In fact, you'll be so happy with your new and improved look, that you'll always want to pay extra special attention to care and maintenance of this smooth and lovely, scar-free part of you.

Home Organizing

When it comes to keeping a neat and tidy house, organization is key. How would you feel, if at the end of a long work day, you came home to a giant mess? No doubt, any normal person would cringe at the sight and immediately feel an overwhelming sense of anxiety creep up. The answer is organization. Not only does organizing things within your home keep everything looking neat, but it also makes it easier to find important documents and cuts down on excess clutter, which can attract dust mites and all other sorts of allergens that can affect your health. It's in your best interest to learn how to be organized!

Not all people are neat freaks. For example, whenever I go home to visit my family in New York, I joke around that my brother's bedroom is sort of like the "black hole" for bedrooms because you walk in and you cannot find anything. There are piles of clothes thrown everywhere, papers stacked up in haphazard piles and countless knick knacks strewn about. It always amazes me that he is able to find anything at all. Apparently, there is a method to his madness though. However, if you are ever planning on having anyone over, chances are that it will pay to be a little more organized.

One example of how it pays to be organized can be seen when I received a notice from the IRS last year. As it turned out, I was being randomly audited for taxes that I had filed from when I was in college several years ago. I wasn't worried because I knew exactly where to find the information for that tax year. If I hadn't been organized, I doubt that I would have found the information that they were looking for.

When I was in college, there was a girl on my cross country team who was notorious for being a "slob". She would leave dirty piles of laundry on the floor in her dorm room, and the garbage would overflow to the point where there would actually be trash on the floor. Eventually, things got so bad that when one of the dorm checks was performed, the fire marshal was actually called in, and she got in a lot of trouble because she actually had garbage piled so high that it was blocking the sprinkler system in the room as well as the exit. On top of this, she had a problem with rodents that had begun to make their presence known in the room.

Obviously, the above situation is a bit extreme, and my former teammate was given 48 hours within which to straighten up the mess in her room; otherwise, she would have been kicked out of the dormitory and been forced to pay a hefty fine. The point is this: organization ranks right up there near cleanliness. The more organized your home is, the more presentable it will be not only to those who come to visit with you and your family, but the more presentable and welcoming it will be to you when you walk in the door.

The Federalist Papers (Signet Classics)

The Federalist Papers (Signet Classics) Review

This book may be boring to some, but I recommend picking this book up as it is the text that Hamiliton, Jay, and Madison wrote in favor of our Constitution. Each section describes the reasoning behind the outline and responsibilites of our federal government and the limited government they envisioned. A good book for political science students and/or American history buffs alike.

I would like to get a copy of the "Anti-Federalist" papers which is obviously the argument against the Constitution, just to get the other side's perspective during the transitioning times from The Articles of Confederation to our Constitution.

Nonetheless, I am glad the Founding Fathers ratified the Constitution, what are leaders are doing to the Consitution today is a crime.

This book includes a copy of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Articles of Confederation

The Federalist Papers (Signet Classics) Overview

The documents thatshaped a nation.

Three of the founding fathers brilliantly defend their revolutionary charter: the Constitution of the United States, a milestone in political science and a classic of American history.

The Federalist Papers (Signet Classics) Specifications

"This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient for a band of brethren ... should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous, and alien sovereignties." So wrote John Jay, one of the revolutionary authors of The Federalist Papers, arguing that if the United States was truly to be a single nation, its leaders would have to agree on universally binding rules of governance--in short, a constitution. In a brilliant set of essays, Jay and his colleagues Alexander Hamilton and James Madison explored in minute detail the implications of establishing a kind of rule that would engage as many citizens as possible and that would include a system of checks and balances. Their arguments proved successful in the end, and The Federalist Papers stand as key documents in the founding of the United States.

I Wish My Baby Was Born (Full) from Cold Mountain

Author Charles Frazier has turned a true life Civil War tale of a Confederate soldier into a best-selling book and blockbuster movie, Cold Mountain. The protagonist of the story is a man named Inman, who served with the Confederate army during the Civil War. The story begins with Inman deserting from a hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he was recovering from a neck wound he received at Petersburg, Virginia. The tale then revolves around Inman's journey home to Cold Mountain, in western North Carolina, to reunite with his love, Ada Monroe. Well, you want to know how the story ends? Guess you'll have to watch, won't you? =) -Ly

Leolo DVD UK (out 29th September 2008) Trailer

NETWORK is delighted to announce the release of the Palme d'Or -- nominated comedy drama LEOLO (18) on DVD from 29th September 2008, RRP £12.99. In a gloomy and squalid tenement block in Montreal, a boy lives with his dysfunctional, neurotic and highly strung family. His mind roams free and wild amidst the perversion and chaos that his family life throws at him. There is very little respite from the tidal waves of various problems that seem to constantly afflict one or more of the members of the family. To Leolo, these people might as well be strangers with whom he just happens to share a living space. He obsessively keeps notebooks in which he constructs a parallel universe. This dream world is beautiful, grand, and stars his first love Bianca, the sexy but remote Italian neighbour... A most extraordinary rites of passage film, director Jean-Claude Lauzon takes the audience on a journey that is in turn intense, funny, surreal and ultimately tragic. LEOLO won the award for Best Screenplay at Vancouver International film Festival. It also garnered the title of Best Canadian Film at the Toronto Film Festival. It features a strong, internationally renowned cast which includes singer Ginette Reno (making her film debut as Leolo's mother), Julien Guiomar as the grandmother and Maxime Collin as Leolo.

Love is the Golden's Light

Many came to look us over when we were wee golden puffs of fluff

And of their smiles and laughter, well I simply could not get enough

Though I'd miss my siblings and mom, you could have all of the rest

Because being with humans, for me, was just beyond doubt the best

To be in their company, I knew, I would leave all else behind

For thoughts of being with them were always filling my mind

When a young girl and her parents said they had decided on me

There was a smile on my face, and I was bursting with glee

My mom's human kin said, "You'll love him, he's a sweet as can be!"

As my new dad lifted me up, he then said," I certainly hope so. We'll see."

"Here, take his toy," she added, and smiled. "From it he does not stray far."

He sighed, as he tucked it under his arm, then carried me out to their car

When they got home they put me in the backyard with a grizzled little guy

He seemed all bones and fur, and studied me through white-clouded eyes

I stood waiting for him to walk over and check me out, but he was too spent

Too weak to lean forward and give me a sniff; he dropped to the stained cement

The next morning the man came out and gave us each a bowl of dry food

I was hungry; it had been a day since I'd eaten and it sure looked good

But later, as I sat the under the hot, hot sun, I felt bad, then quickly got sick

Afterward, I looked for some water and found only a dripping faucet to lick

I suddenly felt lonely as I looked around... the older dog had fallen asleep

But, in the gravel, oh what a find. My toy! A treasure that was mine to keep

With toy in my mouth, I returned to the dog, he was trembling as he slept

I dropped down beside him, snuggled close, and whimpering softly, I wept

The girl often came out and spent time with us, she loved to bring us treats

But the first thing she'd do is give us each a bowl of fresh, cool water to drink

Those bright days for my dog companion and me, kept us from feeling alone

When we shared those special hours with her, it was then I felt I was home

She'd lovingly hug the small dog tenderly to her, whisper softly in his ear

Then she would turn to me and we'd lose ourselves in happy, happy play

These were the best of days for me, it felt so good just having her near

It seemed all too soon our fun would end--she was never allowed long to stay

Each time before she'd leave, she would caress her scraggly-furred friend

Then she'd hold my head in her hands, saying, "I, too, wish it wouldn't end."

As she gave me my toy she would kiss me, whispering, "Don't be sad!

"You two are my family and I love you. You're the best friends I've ever had."

As the summer weeks went by and warm days made way for the cold

I noticed the little dog had grown thinner. And I saw him quickly grow old

One night he couldn't stop shivering. So I laid next to him to keep him warm

As he leaned into me and sighed his thanks I could tell he was very ill

When morning broke cold and frosty the dog at my side lay so terribly still

He had gone on to Rainbow Bridge and he played now in cool tall grass

I knew he was warm, free, and happy. I licked him once to bid him good-bye

Then the man came out, wrapped him in a bag, and carried him to the trash

I tried to follow. What he did, it seemed so wrong. Then, I heard the girl cry!

Oh, no! I pressed up against the glass. Somebody, please let me in!

I pawed at the sliding door, then I whined and gave a couple good barks

But the man hurried over; pulled shut the blinds and I was forgotten, again

I walked back to the fence, looked across the way, through the slats at a grassy green park

I gazed longingly at the people there with their dogs, and watched them 'til long after dark

The next night the man led me through the gate; out front where I'd never been

Confused and frightened, where nothing was familiar, I ran back to retrieve my toy

It was there, by the door. I was so happy, I wagged my tail, picked it up, and grinned

Warily, I returned to the man. He then kicked me while hissing, "Get outta here, boy!"

I slowly looked around me, I didn't know what to do and I had no where to go

but there in the park, above a stone bench and patch of grass, one bright light shone

I heard the gate close behind me, I looked right and left, then strode across the street

I curled up under the bench thinking of the old dog and the girl, and finally fell asleep

Deep into the rough winter, from country roads to busy towns I did roam

Looking for someone who would take me in, for a place that I could call home

Then came spring and I grew so tired, I became sick and lost track of time

I collapsed in a field of dried grass and dust with no person or place to call mine

Then, through the haze of my fevered dreams, I saw her standing at my side

She was murmuring as she bent down and reached out to cradle my head

"You poor babe! How long have you lain here? Come on, we're going for a ride."

I wagged my tail, kissed her hand, tried to get up, but fell into darkness instead

When I awoke I was on a table, in an examining room, at the office of a vet

The doctor took some blood for tests, checked my heart, my eyes, and my ears

"He's so thin and dehydrated. Where will he be going? Have you decided yet?"

"Yes, I'll foster him at home with me." She hugged me and I felt the wet of her tears

I was at the vet's for a very long time, receiving treatments that would make me well

I had surgery, shots, and pills to take and I can't say I liked all of what they had done

When my foster mom would visit, she'd say with a smile, "You're getting better, I can tell."

On a cool autumn morn she took me to her home, a place, amid hills lit gold by the sun

Wagging my tail I carried it gently then laid in the palm of her hand, my toy

A gift from my heart and all that I'd had to keep me company and give me joy

I wanted her to know that now I would wait with her to find my forever home

It was my way to thank her, for I had no plans or desires at all now to roam

Mine is not the happiest of tales, but it certainly is not the worst

We are a goldmine, if those of you searching would just see our worth

When you look at me now you'll see a smile, and a question in my eyes

Have you a place in your heart and your home for this faded Golden boy?

If you spend some time with me, it shouldn't take you too long to realize

The dog standing there--with his faded, dirty, and beloved old toy...

is so willing for you to take him home, to give him a fresh new start

And given time he is the Golden whose love will capture your heart!
