New authors can find getting consumer interest in their book a daunting task, they look at the field that their book is in and think that there is no way to stand out from the crowd. Well there is a way to not only standout from the crowd but get heads and shoulders above them as well.

There are many successful strategies to sell your book, and the math behind them can be confusing. As a matter of fact the statistics can be quite confusing, causing many self published authors to choose just a few if any of the available strategies.

One of the simplest but misused and misunderstood strategies is to have someone Interview you about your book. That's right, just have a friend or relative come up with about 20 +/- questions about your story and have them quiz you with them. Record the conversation, make it light hearted, much like a talk radio show. Be funny, excited and give tons of info about yourself and your story.

The reason I suggest this strategy is for a couple of reasons, one it's because people are often just as interested in the author as they are the story. Next it's because many new authors do not do an interview, they simply do not think that the audience is interested in them. Moreover, they don't believe that an interview will help them sell more copies

Finally many people do not know how to leverage this conversation, they either just let it set on their computer, web page or on their blog. There is a better way, repurpose the interview, have it transcribed, so you can add it to your blog, search engines love new written content. Put it on a CD, to be given as a bonus or as a gift to anyone who visits your site. Add it to a CD Training Course if the book can be used in some sort of teaching or training course.

Upload it to a pod cast directory so that you can reach even more traffic to your site. Take your transcript of the interview and break it up into short (250 word) articles and post them in article directories. These are just a few of the hundreds of ways you can benefit form creating an interview about your first book.
